FEMA Selects ICRI for US&R Type I Task Forces
The waterproof version of the ICRI and the cable-reels have both been selected for inclusion in the 2015 FEMA Approved Equipment Cache List. This list sets the equipment requirements and standard for all FEMA Type I Task Forces.

Items selected for the list are reviewed by applicable working groups of the National US&R System for their quality and reliability to sustain task force operations. Equipment must be rugged and subject to use under adverse environmental and operational conditions, including austere disaster environment conditions.

The role of the FEMA US&R Task Forces is to support state and local emergency responders' efforts to locate victims and manage recovery operations. US&R Task Forces are most commonly activated to rescue victims from a structural collapse. Task forces may also respond to incidents involving transportation accidents, mines and collapsed trenches.
